What we do

AWARE is the Depression Charity for Northern Ireland. Set up in Derry in 1996, we now have an established network of 23 support groups in rural and urban areas across the country, which are run by our trained volunteers.

We offer a range of mental health awareness programmes to people in schools and community settings teaching people the importance of looking after their mental health. These programmes include our six-week Living Life to The Full programme which is based on the principles of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Mindfulness and our suite of Mood Matters programmes which we offer to young people, adults, parents with babies and older people. All of the programmes we deliver are clinically governed.

Gifts in Wills

Depression is currently the leading cause of disability worldwide. We’re here to make sure that anyone with depression in Northern Ireland has somewhere to turn to for advice and support.

In order for us to reach out to as many people as we can, we rely on the generosity of people through donations, fundraising and gifts in Wills. Your gift could help fund a local support group or deliver a mental health awareness programme into a class of 30 young people in secondary schools.

Any gift that you can give will go directly towards our services to help make a difference to people whose lives have been affected by the illness of depression.

You can write your Will for free with Will to Give and Bequeathed and leave a gift to Aware.
